Obsolete ?

Many Hosting packages have the facility to unzip/unpack files on the server. Even some of the less expensive shared Hosting packages have file managers in the CP, a lot even have a Joomla install.
Even when the shared Hosting has neither then it is still possible to unzip on the folder with the use of Kickstart.php.

Given the changes, of Hosting package and the use of Kickstart, is the installation manual a little obsolete ? It still contains instructions of how to install using the FTP Layer.
