SEO - Meta Description - How is it created?

Post by jeffhoneyager » Thu Nov 06, 2014 1:35 pm

The documentation is virtually non existent.

There are so many places where you can add a Meta Description. But there is no description of how Joomla processes them.

Which takes precedence? Article, Category, Menu, Site ???

If you have a MD in the Article, does it take precedence over the MD in the category? If there is a MD in the category and the menu and the article, which one shows?

SEO is so important these days, it is critical that we know how to use them in Joomla. Where's the documentation of how joomla handles it?

Thanks.

The metadata of the menu item is king (from my experience). What you enter here is what's really going to show up in the <head> of any specific page. If a page doesn't have a menu item, then it moves to the article metadata (I believe).
