Hey, I have a huge problem..

This is what I want to do.

When a user is visiting my site I would "force" him to login. Thats the only thing he can do while he is a guest. (not logged in)
That means that the only thing he will see is a loginform.

When he login for the first time I would like redirect him to a component, lets say com_example&view=guide

Is this possible to do?

Hi,

Is this really related to using Joomla! 1.5?

Either way, look in the Admin, for the Login Form module. In both version you have a parameter called "Login Redirection URL" where you can enter the url of that component. So once they login, they get redirected to that url.

You can write a plugin that checks the JUser object ( see JFactory::getUser() ) and redirect the request if the user is not logged in.  So, yes, you could easily do this with the new J!1.5 framework.

Yes its a question for joomla 1.5!

No sry. thats not what I need. If you type a weong password ur username the redirect will be executed and you will not be back to the loginform..

I havn't messed with 1.5 in quite a while, so I may be mistaken, but I'll use the method from older versions

Every menu, content, mambot, and module has three permission levels
public
registered
special

If everything on your site BUT the login module is set to registered, then members not logged in will have no choice but to register or login to see anything at all.

Also and again, I am unsure if this is compatible with 1.5-
You can use the mambots/plugins called Rokguest and Rokmember to display content items to only those groups specifically.

Fell free to throw Roks at me if I am wrong.

This makes me want to start playing with 1.5 again  :D
