G'day there just a quick question for you guys ..

I have been working on a website on my PC using (WAMP5) its coming along quite nicely now, but before i get too much work done on it and find out it is not possible to move to a web-host i thought i had better ask how to do it.

i understand once i am happy with my site (c:\wamp5\www\joomla\my_site_is_here) i can transfer all folders & file into my hosting account.. but when i installed joomla to my local pc.. i only had to enter servername: localhost & database name: root...

how do i change that file & what file is it i need to edit to put in my details of my hosting accounts database

really hoping someone understands what i mean cause im kind of lost here and done to much work on my local site to have to redo it all..

SO please if someone can give me a detailed explanation of how to move my local site to my web-hosting account.. and also how i will go about adding the data base its using now to my web-hosting database

sheeezz really sorry i am even confusing myself right now ..... i really hope you guys can help me here.. please go into detail if you have the time i know its an effort but im sure it will help others down the line also...

after about 1 year of using joomla i now find out i can work on it locally then move it.. sheezz wish id know that while i was learning the software and making errors left right and center lol

HUGE THANKS IN ADVANCE to anyone who can take the time to help me & other with this

ALSO to other noobs like me pay attention & download WAMP5 its a free local server you can run on your pc so it doesnt take 2 hours uploading a joomla installation and you can test things alot easier than working on a live site

I think I understand your question.

Moving a Joomla! site around is pretty easy. Make sure you preserve your configuration.php file. Upload you locat install, and do a database load (unload local, load host) and you're done migrating.

Check out the Tips & Tricks forum, one of the threads is about moving a site from local to Internet. It's written for Joomla! 1.0.x, but should be the same for 1.5.
