Hi
I don't know a lot about modules but i have created a custom module to support a simple css menu and added it to my page.
This done I am at a loss as to how to link it to the menu's screen in order to edit it like I would another menu. Is there a way?
If not, how do I code the menu's joomla creates through its module manager? i keep getting the same ones and I'm a bit lost.
Any help would be much appreciated

Another day another issue. I should never have started on this Joomla quest... now I can't sleep until I figure it out... It's flash all over again

Can you explain exactly what you're after? I don't know if I understand the question.bigstarkiwi wrote:Hi

Re: Custom Module linking with the backend
Sorry for being unclear, as I'm unclear about the steps involved I don't know if I'm explaining it right.
Basically I want a menu. I'm having trouble formatting the existing Joomla template menu's to incorporate a simple css script and was working on uploading the whole menu as a module to then place at the top of my page.
I was wondering if it is possible to 'link' my custom menu to the menu manager so that I can edit it like I would the preexisting menus?
If not I was wondering where I would find info on customising the current menu's?
I am new to this and obviously have a lot of learning to do but I would rather create my own template than just customise somebody elses.
Thanks

Bigstarwiki ... your thread title mentions the backend. Are you really trying to apply specific CSS styles to an Admin back-end menu or are you more interested in this on the front-end (visitor view)?

Re: Custom Module linking with the backend
More than anything I want it to look good on the front end, but I want to be able to edit it from the back end just like any other menu.
How would I go about this?

I thought that might be the case. With J!, you have a great deal of control in styling your menus by making use of class suffixes and the other menu-specific parameters that are available to you through the Module Manager. Here's a lengthy explanation of class suffixes from the Documentation that should get you started: http://docs.joomla.org/Tutorial:Using_C ... oomla!_1.5
I'd also suggest learning about Module Chrome:
http://docs.joomla.org/Applying_custom_module_chrome

Happy styling!

If that isn't exactly what you're after (it probably is, but just in case), post back and we'll see what else we can suggest.radiant_tech wrote:I thought that might be the case.
