Joomla Testers Wanted to test Joomla for CUBRID Database

Post by incorex » Thu Sep 30, 2010 7:23 am

Hello,

Today we completed porting the latest stable version of Joomla 1.5.20 to use CUBRID as the back-end database management system. This is the alpha release with almost all functionalities ON. We haven't altered any functionality of the original Joomla package, but created the CUBRID intermediary classes which parse the original MySQL queries to CUBRID compatible queries.

There is a DEMO site (http://joomla.eaudeweb.ro/) available for testing. You can also download the Joomla package and install it on your own machine.

We kindly ask all users to test this alpha release and report any problems found either to this forum thread or to CUBRID.org Forum Thread. Let's Open Joomla! to a Wider Audience!

More information about Joomla 1.5.20 for CUBRID, including the Online Demo Site, download links, and installation instructions can be found on the following page: http://www.cubrid.org/joomla.

Joomla 1.5.20 Release Candidate for CUBRID Database is available for download.

Today we released the Release Candidate version for Joomla 1.5.20 for CUBRID. We skipped the Beta state as very few bugs have been found in the alpha release.

You can download new Joomla 1.5.20 RC here.

1. There have been seven issues opened in the issue tracker. Among them 5 bugs (all fixed), one database table data mistake (extra \r character at the end of the lines for the Advertisement block in the front page of the demo data), which is also fixed, and one issues was invalid.

2. On Monday October 4th, the new CUBRID 3.0 Stable has been released with new MySQL Syntax Compatibility feature. We have run the unit tests as well as functional tests provided with Joomla 1.5 on both Joomla-MySQL and Joomla-CUBRID installations. The test results are identical for both installations. Later I will post the results.

3. From this time on, we do not need to refer to this package as "for CUBRID". Now the current Joomla 1.5.20 RC can be installed and run on both CUBRID and MySQL databases with no difference.

4. Soon, I am planning to post here the test results for performance comparison between Joomla installed on CUBRID and Joomla installed on MySQL. Based on the preliminary tests, Joomla runs faster on the CUBRID database. We will try to create an intensive workload for both of them and post the results in this thread.

If you have any comments or thoughts about the porting process, please post them below.
