I never knew these events even took place until I read about the Melbourne Day recently held! (fairly new to Joomla!) Are there any plans to hold such an event in Sydney? I would love to attend one. Anyone else keen? |

Hey there Jakhall, I would like to set up a Sydney User Group, so i'm setting up a first meeting on Weds 28th February, 6.30 in the CBD (venue t.b.a.). All very welcome, whether you have Joomla! experience or not - if you're interested, come along and say hello. If you are interested in attending, please let me know directly by emailing dinah [at] dinahrandall.com. I will confirm the time and venue. Since you are reading this, please forward it to your Joomla! networks. Anyone interested in Joomla! for any reason is welcome to attend. The first meeting will be just to meet and introduce ourselves, and to set up topics for a second meeting, which I propose to hold during Sydney Linuxworld Expo [pencilled in as 27-29 March t.b.c] See you there? Hi all, I am working up organisation of a Sydney Joomla! Day. So far we have sketched in either Thursday April 19th or somewhere in May1-3 when CeBit is on in Sydney (but not at CeBit because its too expensive). Watch this space for further developements, add your ideas or register your interest in attending. If anyone has a suitable venue (prefeably near Darling Harbour, if it's while CeBit is on) then please let me know. Dinah |

Ok, that last thread was deleted. I will resume here. I am currently trying to find a meeting place for May 1, 2 or 3 near the CeBit in Darling Harbour for a Sydney Joomla Day. I am looking at an afternoon meeting, say 2-5. Once I've found a space, I will confirm the date. |

Hi Alex, We can get joomladay.org.au, if the people with long trousers are happy with our 'non-profit' status. I have applied. Hopefully Melbourne (and anyone else in Aus who wants to get a JD going) can share it with us, if it comes thru? Thx for map, Wizzie ![]() it's all looking good. Mind you, our booking system is going to be interesting...venue has 110 chairs, so I guess it will be first in, best dressed ![]() d |

Just a reminder that there will be a booth at CeBit that is promoting Joomla in the Open Source pavillion. I could have got a stack of free tickets but its a bit late now. Register now for $25 entry or pay $60 on the day. Check out the details here: http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,145907.0.html or here: http://www.cebit.com.au Cheers Mark |

Hi All. Just a quick note that I am currently planning 3 very short talks (time permitting for me to knock up the powerpoints ... they might end up being off the cuff). 1. Issues around migrating to Joomla! 1.5 2. A quick overview of the new MVC architecture for components in 1.5 with a particular focus on using the template overrides. 3. Use tagging to produce context-sensitive banner adverts in 1.5. For the rest of the time bring your questions along and I'll do my best to give hopefully intelligent answers. |
