On Saturday, September 20th, Joomla! users and developers will converge at Google for Joomla!Day – San Francisco Bay Area.

This is the 2nd annual Joomla!Day event to be held in California’s Silicon Valley, and last year’s event was the first-ever USA Joomla!Day. Once again the venue is the GooglePlex in Mountain View, thanks to the generosity of Google and their unrelenting support for open source.

The one-day event will be an "unconference", which is participant-driven, and encourages face-to-face interactivity between the attendees and presenters.

A highly qualified team of Joomla! leaders and experts are recruited to facilitate the event’s breakout sessions, including: Wilco Jansen, Allen Gunn, Louis Landry, Anthony Ferrara, Ryan Ozimek, Steve Reichgut, Nathan Mallamace, and Ron Severdia. Additional facilitators are anticipated to attend, but have not yet confirmed.

Breakout topics are tailored to meet the needs of all attendees, whether you are a Joombie, Joomler, or JooGuru. From “Installation Tips and Tricks” to “Creative Commons and Copyright Issues”, or “Extension Development” to “Leveraging the Joomla Framework”, a menagerie of knowledge will be shared.

The Bay Area Joomla! User Group, organized by Steve Reichgut and co-directed with Nathan Mallamace, is sponsoring the event. The user group is collaborating with Google’s Leslie Hawthorn, Open Source Program Manager, and Josh Brien, Open Source Joomla! Advocate.

Space is limited, so sign up early up for Joomla!Day – San Francisco Bay Area directly by clicking here. To learn more about the event, visit http://www.bayareajoomla.org.

This is your chance to participate in a day of networking, sharing and speed-geeking with Joomla! experts!

Need a ride from Santa Cruz on Joomla day 2008/09/16 00:43
I'm trying to avoid the enormous expense of renting a car and wondered if anyone here could help me out.

I'm coming in Friday for the Joomla Day at Google and will be spending Friday night with a friend in Santa Cruz.

I need to cover transportation from SC to the conference and wonder if anyone here in the community would be available to carpool? I can (of course) help with ga$.

Email me if you're going that way and wouldn't mind: jcorry at gmail dot com

Thanks!

Thanks!

After looking at the airport shuttle rates and comparing them to best rate on a rental car, I just decided to rent a car.

My flight out is from SFO at 11pm Saturday night.

Hoping to enjoy a meal out in the city before flying home!

yeah, car rental is a cheap way to go. I read somewhere that there should be an after party of sorts, pizza and beer! If not we'll have one anyways!
