emails and rss in utf-8

Post by csalib » Sun Jul 23, 2006 4:02 pm

I have successfully converted by database and website to utf-8 but I am still having some problems.

1. Emails generated by the Contact module that ships with Joomla are not being sent in UTF-8. They characters are not correct.

2. The RSS feed of my website is also not being sent in UTF-8. The characters are not correct.

How can I correct these problems?

Hi Christine ,
Do you use Arabic language file provided by Project Arabic ?
If yes , it should be for errors because it's not UTF-8 compatible .
Here's the UTF-8 Arabic language file attached ! please pay attention for this tutorial
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,55065.0.html
Hope this helps !  :)

Mohammed

Thank you Mohammad. Actually, I used the 1.0.10 Arabic file, but I saved it in UTF-8 format. The arabic is appearing properly on the website.

Also, I did refer to that tutorial while I was setting up the site, but thank you for the link!

Any other ideas?

Mohammed, the question is: do you have the same problems as those described by Christine on the top post?
i.e. rss feed and contact content not utf8.

If not, she may have a problem somewhere and we should be able to trace it.

Yes , I've tested rss feed ( RSS1 & 2 ) and both work fine  , but after I've started creating content using utf-8 language file of course .

@ Christine , would you please re-download the attached file ? The thing is I converted it to UTF-8 but forgot to change chars encoding to be utf-8 . sorry for this , I was in hurry !  :-[

I suppose rss and contact email will work fine with this file after creating content .

Mohammed

Did you mean to attach a new file and forget? I have attached my files for reference. I have been creating utf-8 content for weeks now so this should not be the problem.

I dont believe we ever solved the problem, but we moved onto Joomla 1.5. Havent tested emails from 1.5, but the RSS works fine.

Not really "change" it, but update some aspects of it.
It is quite easy when taking Milkyway as an example.
