Hi everyone, I just need a small explanation on how to add languages in Joom!Fish. I want my website to have 3 languages (Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and English), but in the Joom!Fish language manager I only see 2 rows, Chinese and English, and I don't see any option of adding another language.

How do I add a language, is it done by adding a language pack in Joomla! itself?

And if so, I got another problem, I am currently using Joomla! 1.0.8, and there doesn't seem to be a Simplified Chinese language pack available for it (or may be I haven't searched hard enough). Should I just write another language pack by translating it from the Traditional Chinese pack Eddy Chang did? Also, for the iso of simplified Chinese what should I use? is it 'zh'? or is it customizable?

I am quite new to Joomla!, just started to learn it one month ago when being employed by a company who used Joomla! to manage their website.

1.0.8 is a vulnerable version. Last version in the 1.0.x family is 1.0.15.

It is suggested you rather use the last 1.5.x version (1.5.15 will be released soon) as it is full utf8 and languages are handled nicely.
Joomfish 2.0.4 is the version to use in that case and php 5 is required.
58 languages are available for 1.5.x
Installing any of these will give you the choices in Joomfish.

Thank you for the information!!

I found a simplified Chinese pack for Joomla! 1.0.12 and installed it, and it allowed me to add another language.

Not suprisingly, though I am able to translate, all the messages in the language pack has wrong code and display only monster characters.

I think the website I am working on has started dating back 2004 and since had not received much update, so may be I will need to install a whole new version of Joomla to enable the desired feature. However I have checked using phpinfo() on my host provider and he is using php4.3, so I guess that will present a problem too.

But anyway really thanks for the advice and info, I think I will need to find some way around this problem.
