I don't have enough members yet for this to be a problem, but one of my customers may soon.
My host allows me to send up to 400 emails per hour.  If I get 2000 registered members, 1600 of the emails will be lost.
Is there a mambot, plugin, or anything else that will control the flow of emails sent by Joomla to stay within the 400/hour limit?

Same here. I found a component that seems to allow me to do what I need, but when I try to use it, my website locks up. It's pretty vulgar and distressing.

Hi

Acajoom has mail throttling. You can specify how many emails per batch, and how long to wait between batches.
You can also choose between smtp sending and phpmail sending (each better suited to specific server setups)

There are several other server settings (i.e. outside Joomla) that could be affecting the sending of mail - usually measures put in place to prevent the sending of spam, overload of the php processor, hanged php processes or memory overload.

I suggest you test with at least 4000 recipients - I just make a catchall on a domain and send to made up addresses at that domain.

Regards
Brendon

I understand what you're saying, but I'm not sure it'll help.

When I send a mass e-mail even to one email address, the back-end locks up and I get the index2.php page that's totally blank. The emails are sent, but I get logged-out.

Hi

The index2.php being blank is an indication that the process watch has killed the php process for taking too long.
This is one of the "several other server settings" I was referring to.

If you get logged out entirely, then set the admin session to a much longer period under Site / Global configuration / Server / Admin Session Lifetime.

Best of luck
Brendon
