Some web sites have sub menus on Google. I'd like to create one for my site as well.

Any one have the knowledge and wisdom I'd like to possess and willing to share? Any understandings, tutorials, and technical terms would be helpful as well.

These are called subdomains and you'll have to work on your hosting provider on how they handle subdomains (if they are even available to you)

It is an algorithm but i notice that when it happens with my sites, the second 3rd etc listings appear to be separate cohesive sections but with content and keywords targeted to the same as or similar to the search for instance a blog might appear as a separate listing if is on topic for the search

it isn't just for the first result. It can happen anywhere in the search results.

so would you suggest editing the meta keywords and description for every piece of content on your site?

Honestly i have never deliberately gone out to try to get the index to do this. I am commenting from observation of where its happened on my websites.  I do not think its the meta keywords and description so much. Google doesn't read so much into those any more. I think its keywords in the content and as i said a second section such as a blog that would contain keywords in the content that relate to the search.
Again this is from observation, not testing it out.
