I installed a new template and I can't replace the logo file or any of the others. I cant CHMOD them either. What should I do? I have had this problem before. BTW, I have the same dimensions and names on the images.

If you don't know that, don't worry.

Templates are the easiest to set-up without loosing 'ownership'
'ownership' is the curse of people who are on shared hosts.

OK, about your template.
Just rename it and/or try to delete.

FTP your template (after unzipping if it is a zip file) to you templates folder.
Voila, there it is in your administrator/templates link.
Activate it.
Edit it, whatever.

You can also look at these two forums to try to understand why Joomla does this with shared hosts.  It is a php issue.  Hopefully you have a helpful host if you have uploaded a lot of components and mods.  Make sure that in your Joomla Global Configurations, that you have it set to make files installed by Joomla CHMOD'd to 755 BEFORE you install files.  That will help you if you need to delete later or update configurations.  But one problem I had was that no matter what the permissions of the file were, I couldn't delete them.  Hope you have better luck.

No matter what, it is and stays a problem for most, no matter what work-arounds there are.
There was a promise that in a later version there won't  be that problem with 'ownerships'
I would think that it can be done by changing some 'core' installation scripts.
