| Post subject: | Authors (RISK) !! |
Hi, Something is confusing us about Authors, as we all know Author can add a content item but it has to be published by one of the admin group. its good so far, this will help protect our content from annoying topics. but if the Author wants to post such a topics he still can do it by doing a little trick. he can post any innocent content item and after he has it published by the admin he can edit his own item again and write whatever he wants and in a seconds it will be watched by the public. we think is to let the Authors freely edit their items without any admin approval is a high risk to our contents. One more thing, when you are an Author, and you post your first item, you will need the admin to publish it for you. and when you have it published you will find an edit button and you can edit it with anything you like as we said before. but when you finish editing it (the first edit) the "Edit" button will disappear from you as an Author - don't know why- and it will never appear again until the admin publish your item again for you, then the edit button will appear and never disappear again. isn't strange??? if some developers clarifying this point we'll appreciate it. Thanks to Specialist for the note! |

Same thoughts here. I don't understand why there isn't the capability to have moderators approve all content changes/additions...maybe I'm just missing something? |

The problem boils down to Joomla not storing versions of articles. Once the saved article is saved it replaces the original. If this was blocked prior to approval the article would 'disappear'. I suspect that the 'issue' will be best tackled once some form of article versioning is introduced. Dean |

I use the versioning bot, and that does me proud a lot of times, saves headaches! http://extensions.joomla.org/component/ ... Itemid,35/ |

Alternatively, if you really don't trust your Authors, the Admin could change the "ownership" of the article when publishing it? They could at the same time enter the Author's name in the "Alias" field, thereby ensuring he gets his credit/tag-line. HTH, John Mc |

HTH, John Mc Thanks jmc for such a creative solution, it sounds great and worked fine with me. But I am afraid that this solution lets me down with one of the related components or other plugins in the future. |

Hmm... Yeah, I guess it would probably mess with stats and such, if that's important (i.e. every article would be owned by Admin). But, at least it would leave you complete control over the subsequent editing of articles. They could each be released back to the original owner on PM/request, allowing him/her to edit - and leaving you knowing EXACTLY which articles were being edited and by whom. ![]() John Mc |

Is joomla 1.5 subjected to this issue too? |
