Search Friendly URLS?
I have a question concerning URLS in the browser. I made a new site: http://www.keystoneconnections.com and i have an issue with the url that shows up in the browser. Initially, when you first go to the site it looks normal but after you click around you get url's that look like this: http://keystoneconnections.com/index.ph ... e&Itemid=1 which is the HOME page, as above. Just looks differently. Is there a way to fix this?

Re: Search Friendly URLS?
I think your issue is due to this fact:
The site's home page (when you go to the root) is ALWAYS the first published menu item on the menu named mainmenu. (not to be confused with what you consider your site's main menu--the menu actually named 'mainmenu')
If you can make these one and the same, they'll look the same (as they will be the same)
Good Luck!

Re: Search Friendly URLS?
I think i understand what you mean here. In my Joomla CP i went to "main menu" and clicked on the "Home" to edit. The url to this was listed as: index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1 . However, there was no way to edit this there. Is there another way? Bare with me, i aint an expert at this stuffnathandiehl wrote:I think your issue is due to this fact:

Re: Search Friendly URLS?
no, not 'main menu'.
There is a menu actually named 'mainmenu' EXACTLY mainmenu
Whatever this menu item points to is your home page.
If you're trying to create a separate menu item on a different menu, link to the URL: 'http://yoursite.com'
Hope that helps.

Re: Search Friendly URLS?
Yea a typo on my part. I misspelled "mainmenu" as "main menu". My bad, Sorry.nathandiehl wrote:no, not 'main menu'.

I still dont see anyway to change/edit the urls that are showing up in my browser like in my 1st post in this thread here. Even after going into the "mainmenu" in the Joomla admin panel there doesnt appear to be a way to edit it? Someone from Hostgator.com told me i needed to download and install some SEF Component (ARTIO JOOMSEF) and that would fix it, however, after reading all the negative feedback for that item i chose not too.
Thanks for the help. I'll get it figured out sooner or later. Its had me stumped all weekend so far.....

Re: Search Friendly URLS?
I've got the same problem with the homepage except I'm using sh404. I named my home page 'Home' in the main menu. When you come to the site it's just the URL of the site. For instance http://mysite.com However after you click around and return to the home page, it's shown as http://mysite.com/home
Isn't this considered duplicate content.I know Google doesn't seem to like it because it shows no Page Rank score on the second /home generated page.
Anyway to just have home be the main site URL?
