A simple download link within a content item?
Hello everyone! I reckon this one should be fairly simple:
How would you make a simple download link inside a content item? Clicking the link should immediately trigger the download and NOT lead to another page with the actual link. The file in question is a PDF file.
Thank you for any help to realise this little goal!

Re: A simple download link within a content item?
1. create a subdirectory in your "stories-folder". call the thing "downloads"
2. upload with media manager or ftp (always faster) the PDF (name as example mypdf.pdf) to the "downloads" directory
3) go to your content item and open with the editor
4) highlight the text on which you want the download link such as "download the document here"
5) click the cable icon = link icon in your editor and enter in the link "htp://yourdomain.com/mages/stories/downloads/mypdf.pdf and save
done
(if you have many pdf's to download we have a component and editor solution)

Thank you Leo!
The linkage was quite hard to get, I had to copy the pdf's link from my webhosting controlpanel (right-click, copy link location) and it's weird crypted link.... Anyways, now it works.

Re: A simple download link within a content item?
Hi again! This led me to a CSS problem. How could I style the download link I created?

many options: just upload a little pdf-button and place it in front or behind the link......or ........highlight the link and choose "styles" from your editor and assign the desired css style to the link
cheers

Re: A simple download link within a content item?
Thanks for the tip! So helpful - with a couple "typo" corrections to the recommended link : "htp" needs to be "http" and "mages" needs to be "images" for the link to work. Also (in trying out your advice), it looks like the folder identified as "downloads" can be named anything (or several different folders with different names for content organization) - as long as they're within "images/stories".
