I've renamed htaccess.txt and mod_rewrite is active, but when I try to view pages it gives me error 404.

Anyone knows a solution?

ok allowoverride was set to none, now is ok

where do you make these changes for mod_rewrite and override?

You have to make the changes in your httpd.conf file located on your server.
