From my frontpage I have a couple articles listed with the "read more..." link at the bottom.  When I click on "read more" and it opens the page, there is no left menu.  How do I make the menu visible ?

The menu is ONLY not visible if I try to view the article from the "read more..." link.  What am I doing wrong :(

Thanks!!

In the administration area go to Modules -> Site Modules -> Main menu -> Make sure it's set to show on every page (or select the pages you want to show it on)

I have different menus for different sections, for example:

- services
- portfolio
- faqs
  etc...

So when I click on the "read more.." link for services, I expect it to open the page and have the services menu on the left.  What's consfusing me is that I set-up the pages to display a specific menu, and they work fine, except when I open them via read more there's no menu.

Thanks!!

OK I'm truly stumped. ???

Under web design on the home page, the "read more" link takes me here: http://www.lirvaproductions.com/officesupport/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2

When it should take me to this one with the menu: http://www.lirvaproductions.com/officesupport/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2&Itemid=32

Why is it taking me to 2 different places?  I'm totally not getting this.  Can someone help me figure this out?

Thanks!!

It's either I'm asking a really silly question or nobody knows the answer.  I am truly stumped here...doesn't anyone have any suggestions?

I think I know the answer to "why is this happening?", but you're not going to like it.

I think your links are being assigned the default itemid, and thus being assigned the modules associated with the front page. (notice no itemid on this link  http://www.lirvaproductions.com/offices ... =view&id=2

the one that works has the correct itemid of 32 http://www.lirvaproductions.com/offices ... &Itemid=32

You can read more about it here.

I don't know the solution since it depends on exactly what's generating the readmore link and other variables

rsphaeroides Thanks for that bit of information.  I can't be the only person who has encountered this issue - It would be nice to hear from someone from joomla to see if I can get some advice as to how I can work around this.

There has to be a workaround ???  I've been trying for hours at a time to figure this out!!  I guess I probably will have to do a manual link...

Getting back to this issue ... when you click Read More .. you are going to a new page .. so menu modules (controlled under the Modules tab) that do not have "All" selected under "Menu Item Links" will disappear on that page.  It took me a while to understand this in the beginning, so hope this helps.

So basically those pages are going to be left without a menu or it will have a menu that is not relevant to it.

I guess I will have to resort to a manual read more...

Thanks rjschad.

I was thinking of manually inserting a read more...l link which would work for now, but is there a way that I can disable the read more link for ONLY the FrontPage.

Thanks!!

Is it just me, or is your footer in the wrong location when I open your site up in Firefox?

It appears the template has been altered.  It does not display properly for me either.

Looking at your issue once more .. you say that when you click Read More on a Front Page content item, the left menu disappears.  Why is that a problem?  You read the article, then click Back.  Is there a good reason you absolutely must have the menu module in place while reading an article?  As a rule, I like a larger content (without modules) area to display an article.  You might want to consider the same .. and/or select a different template where you can add a top menu and place a few basics like Home, Contact, Help, etc.

BTW .. I never display my login and right side modules beyond the front page.

The way to eliminate Read More is to compose the entire item in the top editing window.

Hey guys!  Thanks for pointing that out for me...I have no idea why it would be displaying that way  ??? - I guess I'll check the css.  It's beyond me why explorer and firefox display things differently - it just causes frustration.

rjschad, Thanks a lot for those suggestions....sometimes when you are working on something alone you tend not to think outside the box.
