Email spambots error

Good day gurus in the house..
please i have an issue with a zt-oreo template..i created a contact us page with all the necessary fields including e-mails. but the email field always displays this error message (This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it in joomla).i have searched all thru the internet for solutions, i was aksed to disable the email cloaking pluggins..i have done that and am stil having the same error..though am using it on php 5.3.5..pls how do i display the email??

Joomla 1.0 is not compatible with php 5.3. You have to go down to 5.2 or upgrade Joomla to a newer version.
