Banner impressions higher than analytics pageview count

Just wanted to post this up real quick to see if I can get any feedback.

I published a banner ad using the built-in banner component in Joomla. In about 24 hours time it logged 3000 impressions. However, in that time frame Google Analytics shows only 1,000 page views. What gives? I know Google Analytics can have a delay in reporting, but I typically don't see that many page views (according to Google Analytics anyway).

It's difficult to say...
Some statistics will show 5 page refreshes of 1 page of one user as 5 hits, others as 1 unique visitor.
And you can have multiple banners on one page (hence more impressions).

I should add, I have just one banner published to one module position.

I'm having the same problem. I was testing my site because I was suspicious of my banner counter also. The impressions seemed much too high. I went on my site and navigated to a page-then I would refresh the counter of my banner. The counter would count 2 or 3(mostly 2) every time i navigated to a different page. Not very accurate I would say. This is also 1 banner in 1 module position.
