I did a search on the ext. site and found only this item relating to podcasting..

First comment - its great but only audio.

My priority is to get the videos I am producing seen by all.

How can I configure joomla to help me podcast my videos?

Hello mcsolas,

The podcast suite is not exclusively designed for audio; it can handle files of any type.

This post is going to reveal my level of familiarity with podcasting - how do I subscribe to an audio one? I saw it looking for itunes but I dislike that software, using another unnamed piece of freeware ( really whoops the llamas a$$ )  haha

Anyways, back to my point - without using itunes how do I subscribe?

Audio isnt really my concern - we produce videos...

Do you have any urls that your running that would work in democracy tv?

I really want to get a channel going on that.

From what I can see, Democracy TV is another client capable of reading podcast feeds. You can podcast video to either iTunes or any other "podcatching" client that supports video. Subscribing to a feed at the most requires that you copy a feed URL (which the module of my suite provides) and pasting it into the client somewhere. Better clients will recognize the pcast:// or feed:// protocols and automatically add when you click on the link.

The Podcast Suite itself can support any file format, but be aware that the people watching the podcast will need whatever software necessary to view them. Quicktime and several other formats are becoming popular for video podcasts. I would suggest avoiding Microsoft's formats.

There are better explanations of podcasting in general floating around: http://www.ipodder.org/whatIsPodcasting

And to reiterate, the format of the files doesn't matter as long as your audience can view them.

Hello,

I am trying to figure out how to get video podcasting to work on a Joomla 1.5.7 site. What do I set the mime type to for videos for the flashplayer? I tried video/swf and set the height and wide of the player, but that is not working. I still just get a player which just has the player control bar only, there is no place to see the actual video in the content item when you view it.

As you can tell, I am still trying to figure out how the podcasting works.

Thanks for any help on this.

Download the great podcasting component from LeBlanc, install it and configure it.
