I have struggled with a few features on Joomla, so I have gone to creating static content.  I noticed that If I create a menu that is supposed to display only with a specific content item, the menu would not display if you navigated through links created by breadcrumbs, Most Popular module or Recent News Module.  I tracked it down to the wrong id's being added to the URL.

So, my workaround was to:
(1) Create static content items - this solves the issue the above issue.  Now, whether I click on main menu or links created by Recently Added Modules- I get the menus that are supposed to display with the content item.

(2) Went into the index.php for my template (solarflare) and commented out the code that makes the breadcrumb display- by getting rid of breadcrumbs, I force the user to just use my main navigation menu to get around the site.  I am using a menu module with multi-level dropdowns- so you can get wherever you want in the site from the main menu.

Does anyone see any development problems down the road with this?  What will happen when 1.5 comes out?  Will I regret going to this trouble to create static content?

Unfortunately, my site is an academic site with a lot of content.  In some ways I am "trying to make it work" with Joomla, but in many ways, it is a universe better than developing the old fashioned static HTML way.

I'd love opinions and thoughts.
