User are logged out too often and too soon

Hello
When my users, and I log into Joomla (1.0.15), usually we get logged out within a few minutes!!! Even the remember me feature does not work (on my computer)
How to solve that problem?

1. Go to the backend of your site, and click on Global Configuration

2. You should see 3 buttons near the top that say Site | System | Server you want to click on System.

3. If you look to your bottom right you see a box that says Session Settings, this is where you can set how many minutes someones logged in for.

Site session expiration is set to 30 mn already!

You have to make sure that the handler is set to database and your browser is set to accept cookies

But "handler is set to database" is not quite clear to me.
