I have Joomla 1.0.15 so i hope i am in the right place...i am new to updating my site as it was previously done by a web company so....
on my static content manager page i have a number of pages that are showing as locked. i dont know why....i need to update these pages, or alternatively delete them and replace them as they show really out of date prices and i am having to honour old prices....

can someone please tell me how i can unlock these pages and open them...

Hi Vikki and welcome to the Joomla forums.
in your Admin panel go to Sytem and click on Global Checkin. The locked articles usually are checked out because sombody opended them and did not close or save them.

If you are still working on Joomla 1.0.15 you should probably slowly consider to move to a newer version. ;)

Are you sure you are using Joomla 1.0.15?

my headings dont have "system" ...it has mambots installers help.

however, under help i have found global checkout and it is apparently a "superadministrator" tool....i dont have a superadministrator...have just tried to create one but not an option under new user.....any ideas..at the bottom of my home page (back end) it says this....presumably this is the version i am using???

Joomla! is Free Software released under the GNU/GPL License.

Well if you do not have a superadmin login, you should probably ask the web company to give you the details of your superadministrator as well as username and password to DB and other details you need to know.
Visibility of menu items and management of certain components is dependent on user rights.

You are welcome. You also managed to checkin the articles I guess.

There are migrating tools to migrate from Joomla 1.0 to Joomla 1.5. and for Joomla 1.5 to 1.7. But depending on your template and extensions you are using you might also have some work in front of you.

Best thing is to leave your existing website and copy it to your local computer and migrate your website on your local PC. (Using xampp or wampp) Once it's running on your local PC you can copy it to the server replacing your old website.

There are some articles on migrating.

Joomla 1.0 to 1.5 http://docs.joomla.org/Upgrading_and_Mi ... ersion_1.0
http://docs.joomla.org/Migrating_from_1 ... 1.5_Stable
Joomla 1.5 to 1.6+ (also for 1.7.3) http://docs.joomla.org/Migrating_from_J ... Joomla_1.6

To be honest I never migrated a website from Joomla 1.0 to 1.5. I rebuilt them in Joomla 1.5. But as you could see I still have a Joomla 1.0 installation for nostalgic reasons and sometimes it's even useful. :)
