For several days, I've been trying to find a working solution for the dreaded message:
Quote:
Incorrect Username, Password, or Access Level. Please try again

I went through all the wiki (relevant post on recovering password) / forum posts I could find, but for no avail.

I even performed the queries in this post, but nothing has changed: removing and restoring all needed tables in Joomla 1.0

The tmp folder is chmod to 777 - just in case.

Joomla version, according to includes/version.php is 1.0.15

Any hint?

Thanks!

Hi bizna,

Have you tried double-checking the database for admin login directly using phpMyAdmin?

After running the scipt you mention, the table "users" should only contain 1 entry - admin.
If this is still the case, try erasing the password, and type in - in plain text - your new password (could be admin as well if you prefer).
Now: On the left hand side of the password field is a dropdown menu - click it and choose "MD5".

Save and exit phpMyAdmin.
Try log in to the backend again using admin/your new password.

Hope it helps.

GL

btw:
please do upgrade your Joomla! 1.x installation to *at least* the latest 1.5 -version.
1.x versions are way to vulnerable on the net today..
Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the tip boomla!

Although the problem was eventually a reference to an old database, your tips were quite helpful.

Especially regarding the upgrade. Working with 1.0 should have changed a loooong time ago, and this was indeed a good opportunity to switch to 1.5.

Have a nice day!
