Go Daddy Joomla 500 error on Log In

I use Go Daddy for Hosting and Joomla 2.5

Try logging in to the Joomla Administration Login page. Put in my user info and click log in get the following message. 500 - An error has occurred.

htaccess file has been renamed to .htaccess

I faced the same problem once. Did you check by turning off the sef url. If it works what I feel you should recheck by turning on sef url but renaming .htaccess to htaccess.txt. If this works this means your host has a .htaccess that overrides your .htaccess file. Also there can be several other reasons but to start with you can try this tricks.

Problem seems to be with .htaccess rule you need to contact there support and confirm if they allow mod_rewrite in .htaccess.

Best way to get it sorted can be done by there support team as they will have to check the server end error logs to confirm the error caused.
