hi as a newbie, i need to set up a local dev server. have installed centos and downloaded joomla 115.

being a windws man i am stuck. no idea how to create a folder or anything else in centos. have googled for a process but nothing comes up.

can anyone on this forum help ?

Hi,

There are several ways to 'skin the cat'.

If you have SSH access and enough rights, you can use PuTTY from a workstation to access the shell and issue the command 'mkdir myfolder'.

If you prefer a GUI and have SSH access, you can download WinSCP and run it from your Windows workstation.

If you are handy with installing RPM packages, download Webmin and then you can access a comprehensive administrative application through your browser, including accessing the file system.
