I transferred my Joomla 1.5.9 to a new host. I backed up my databases - and later restored them via GoDaddy's control panel. Almost everything works fine - but a couple nagging problems:

1) I get a "restricted access" error when I try to reach my Joomla administrator menus, media manager and users.

2) I can get around the "restricted access" error by activating the Legacy plugin...but then I get a double menu icons in the menus manager area. And this still does not give me access to the user manager area.

I have tried installing new Joomla 1.5.9 directories/files over the ones I transferred to the new host - but it did not help.

Can anyone out there help me?

I have similar issues. I didn't notice till I upgraded to 1.5.10 but I now have double menu icons in the menu manager area. For example if I want to edit a menu item in the main menu I see all the icons double. There are other issues as well some administrators get forbidden access when trying to save articles in the front end. I also can access the user manager except through virtuemart.

I'm not sure these issues existed prior to the 1.5.10 upgrade.

Okay, I didn't mess with this for some time but I now have the solution. If you search the forum you will find many misleading statements as to what causes this problem. It doesn't have a thing to do with the database or data migration. It has to do with extra files from Joomla 1.0 being accidentally copied to Joomla 1.5. I'm not sure how I messed up originally or if it was even something I did but somehow files were wrong in the "administrator/com_menu" directory.

The solution: I deleted the entire directory "com_menu" and then FTP'ed a fresh copy of this directory from the latest joomla 1.5 release. This would have been a 2 min fix but I was messing around with the database for months due to inaccurate posts in this forum. Please try this first it can't hurt. Don't just overwrite. There is a wrong file there that is never overwritten by the new files. One more odd thing. I deleted the entire directory and then used my FTP to send a new one containing 76 files the very last file it asked should I overwrite. There shouldn't have been anything there but I overwrote it and now everything looks great.

I hope this saves someone a lot of time and headaches.
