root password is fine, I can login to the MySQL db from MySQL in Terminal.
When connection to the Installation PHP pages. I get user name and password wrong.

Is this a known issue?

Setting this stuff up in Panther was a piece of cake.

What version of PHP?
Have you switched the Joomla database connector files?

I will look at the FAQ, this is a machine that has never run MySQL until I turned it on.
The version of PHP would be whatever is current with OS X Server 10.4.3
