First of all I'll give you information about my host and what not;

Code:
Host: http://www.binaryphoenix.com
MySQL: Yes
PHP: 4.4.4
Apache: Yes
Joomla Version: 1.0.12
My OS: Ubuntu 7.04

The Problem

I've uploaded all the files I got in the downloaded folder;
Code:
Administrator
Components
Editor
Help
Images
Includes
Language
Mambots
Modules
Templates
CHANGELOG.php
configurations.php-dist
COPYRGHT.php
globals.php
htaccess.txt
index.php
index2.php
INSTALL.php
offline.php
offlinebar.php
pathway.php

Now then, whenever I go to the URL to Browser Install I get a 'Restricted Access' Error; So I tried to CHMOD some of the files, I CHMOD'ed the Joomla dir first (as I have it in a subfolder to test it) but when I went to the URL I got an error saying;
Quote:
Sorry the server has encountered an internal error, please try again later.

I did this with a few other files, and the same error occured, now I am confused.

Can I have some help on this?
Like What I'm doing wrong and what I should be doing.

Hey, I had the exact same problem today.  I tried chmoding my folder as well and it still didn't work.  What finally did work, is when I directed my browser to www.[mysite].com/joomla/index.php instead of just www.[mysite].com/index.php.  'joomla' is what I had named my folder before uploading it (so fill in whatever your folder was called).  If you didn't upload the whole folder, but rather the files individually, then I'm not sure how to help.  If you did upload the whole folder, then the index directory is inside of that folder so you need to direct your browser to the site+the folder+index.php the way I did above.  Hope that helps!

Well, I've got it working pretty much that way too.
Thank you.
