Hello,
I have been using your diagnostics for J 1.0.10 on my french Joomla 1.0.10.
The result is : "File is corrupted or has been altered - WARNING" for any Joomla core file.
Any idea ?

You will have to use the correct version of it.
md5 hashes on a windows machine are different from the ones on a linux server.
Even unzipping on the server and uploading them to a server result in different md5 hashes.

Surely the way this should work in future is to be included as an administrator component. Generate its own hashes immediately on first installation. Then be available to check for changes thereafter. If I know I have made a change to something myself, I run it and accept the new hash as correct and it updates its hashes. Sort of like Windows File Checker. (Did I just ask for a Joomla component to work like part of Windows?  :o )

I have tested both the linux and Windows version, the result is the same.
The site is hosted in a Linux machine. But all was tested first in Windows before the files get uploaded via FTP to the Linux machine.

Normally that should result in a correct list. Never had problems with it myself and I haven't heared this from others before.

I m cheking my site via diagnostics and tells me that configuration.php-dist is missing, but in the version of joomla that file is not included. So what to do now?

No, I wouldn't worry about it. configuration.php-dist is a default configuration layout which can be used for a manual installation of joomla (without the installer).

Just updated it for version 1.0.11.

- changed md5 hashing method to avoid different hashes on different platforms
- added check for register_globals and register global emulation
- added check for _VALID_MOS for each file that will include another.

using the 1.0.11 version, i get File is corrupted or has been altered  warning for a lot of the files like
/home/mysite/public_html/administrator/components/com_content/admin.content.html.php

im wondering if this is the reason my sef won't work after migration.

what do i do now that i get that warning? right now my site won't come up, just a blank. last thing i did was add a menu item so i could test out my sef that wasn't working at all.

Try overwriting the files again with the joomla package. My best guess is some of the files got corrupted during the upload.

now i remember i had used a opensef patch hack, of course i would get
File is corrupted or has been altered

your tool is good for the core files, which would be altered if you apply hacks.. i'm learning :D

When I run the diagnostic I get a few dozen security flags with messages like the following

Error Filename Type
SECURITY /home/integrit/public_html/includes/Cache/Lite.php File does not contain _VALID_MOS. Read more =>

http://www.joomla-addons.org/faq/view/_ ... s/147.html

The "read more" does not appear to be valid.

Made a change the the faq section, so the urls are a bit different. Added a redirect for the old urls.

Hi there,

I ran the diagnostics and I get the following error:

Compair file hashes against original

Warning: file(joomla_1.0.11.txt) [function.file]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/mysite/public_html/diagnostics.php on line 123

Notice: Undefined offset: 1 in /home/mysite/public_html/diagnostics.php on line 126

SECURITY /home/mysite/public_html/administrator/components/com_events/admin.events.main.php File does not contain _VALID_MOS. Read more
SECURITY /home/mysite/public_html/administrator/components/com_events/admin.events.php File does not contain _VALID_MOS. Read more
SECURITY /home/mysite/public_html/administrator/components/com_feedgator/etc/xajax.inc.php File does not contain _VALID_MOS. Read more

Is this a serous problem that I should fix asap.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Make sure you also upload joomla_1.0.11.txt, that's the first error you are getting.

I just uploaded the file and ran a check, and *every* file says "WARNING - File is corrupted or has been altered."
I just had a restore done by my host due to a hack. But why would I get this result?

I second that. The download is corrupt.

I attached a working archive for you.

I have 3  _VALID_MOS errors, I have checked the original files but they don't have the line defined( '_VALID_MOS' ) or die( 'Restricted access' );

Shall I add this line myself or just ignore it?

Thanks in advance.

Depends a bit on which files it are. If they're core files, you should be ok :)

Yes I got three valid_mos warnings on three include files that I never altered (so they should be "stock")... I guess this is normal
