JFolder::create: Could not create directory Path

Trying to install VirtueMart as an extension and get the following error appearing:

JFolder::create: Could not create directory Path: /var/www/vhosts/sailingbooks.biz/httpdocs/tmp/install_527a4acd7d087/administrator
Unable to write entry

I have tried changing the file names etc and switched to writable but still no luck.

Any help would be much appreciated!
