I have a clean install of Mambo 4.5.2.3 ("Clean Install"). At the same time, on another site, I upgraded from Mambo v.4.5.1 to Mambo 4.5.2.3 ("Upgrade Version").

So far, here is what I noticed in the Upgrade Version:
  • I do not see the checkbox Make unwriteable after saving in Global Configuration
  • I cannot use Edit CSS and Edit HTML in Template Manager. There is no error message. Nothing happens.

I have been playing with permissions in the Upgrade Version even to the point of making all directories 777 (egad). I have experimented with various permissions for configuration.php and the index.php of both frontend and backend templates. I have also tried copying all directory permissions in the Clean Install.

Anyone who came across the same problem and found a workaround?

I'm noticing the same thing.

I am able to edit the file through FTP or file manager through Cpanel, but not throught the Admin interface.  I thought it may be a user issue so I also tried through MamboXplorer but no luck there either.

I thought it might be related to the infamous change of ownership issue found here http://forum.mamboserver.com/showthread.php?t=32695

Any ideas?

And, I also can't delete a Menu.

Just an update. I was able to solve 2 problems (editing template and deleting menus). I just restarted Firefox. It must've been caching something.

Still can't see the checkbox "Make unwriteable after saving" in Global Configuration though. My google results mentioned something about transferring ownerships of certain files.

Writing down for posterity's sake:

  • configuration.php should be owned by nobody (use CHOWN command)
  • Same with language file (or just re-upload language package from administrator)
  • Same with templates (or again, just re-upload/reinstall template from adminitrator)

Chette, I've been following this and really appreciate your adding the final remarks to make it a useful future resource for myself and others.
