My hoasting came with Joomla! 1.0.11 and I am trying to upgrade to 1.5 and I thought it would be as simple as uploading the full install to my Joomla! directory but I keep getting this error message once I have deleted the install folder like it asks:

Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: jconfig in /content/StartupHostPlus/t/h/(MYWEBPAGEINFO)/web/joomla/includes/framework.php on line 48

I am not sure what this means

Thank for any help.

Edit: I have been able to upgrade to 1.0.15 now but no further.

You don't upgrade from 1.0.x to 1.5.x - you migrate. Please see http://docs.joomla.org/Upgrading_and_Migrating_FAQs#How_do_I_upgrade_to_Joomla.21_1.5.3F

Install the migrator like any normal 1.0.x component installation. Then on the backend (administrator) under components you should find a migrator component listed.

When you migrate from 1.0 to 1.5, will Joomla 1.5 still be able to use all the components from 1.0, or will they have to be rewritten?

Thanks

Try having a read here:
http://docs.joomla.org/Migrating_from_1 ... 1.5_Stable
- may give you a better idea of what happens. You will need 1.5 compatible versions of the components....

If you use Legacy mode on 1.5 I expect some will still work.
