I was wondering if there were some quick edits I could do to replace "mambo" and "miro" with "joomla" and "opensource"

Eventually I'll reinstall, using the Opensource matters code which I assume will soon be scoured of all mention of mambo and miro but since I'm currently using 4.5.2.3 I'll probably wait for some development to happen before taking the time to reinstall.

I've done the footer.php, but there are others

for example when I look at the source on any generated page I see

Is there a list of quick and dirtys to replace most or all of the mambo miros without reinstalling...?

Errr, considering that what you are using is NOT Joomla (it was released before Joomla was "born"), I don't believe you can change those references.

Patience, wait 'till the release of 1.0

Sorry, I didn't (still don't) understand how the whole transition works. From what I've read, once joomla passes through the release process it will be substantially the same as mambo 4.5.2.3

In an earlier post one of the dev team said that what was being released for download from Opensource matters was "identical" to the 4.5.2.3 release elsewhere and everyone was calling it the CMS to be named later... so I mistakenly thought once it was named it existed.

What you're saying is that joomla the CMS doesn't exist yet and won't until it's been officially rebranded and released here?  Until then opensoucematters.org and joomla.org are portals for mambo distribution, and my site should say "powered by mambo, copyright miro, but looking forward to switching to joomla"...?

edit-btw I wasn't planning on removing the references just changing them to give credit where I thought credit was due... to the developers

Yes, Joomla 1.0 will be essentially the same as Mambo 4.5.2.3.  But there will be minor changes.

Joomla! exists, yes, inasmuch as the code is there and nearly ready to go.  But since there has been no release of Joomla!, it's not "really" available.

Giving credit where credit is due is cool, but...  The version of Mambo you are using was developped under the Mambo name, and you can't just go changing that willy nilly.  The product you are using *is* Mambo, not Joomla.

As for the upgrade process, I'm not sure what steps will be necessary, but I'm sure the Core Team will make it as easy as possible :)

Sounds good.  I'll go back to crediting mambo and miro until jumla is released.

Thanks for clearing it up.

if you are talking about joomla 1.0 then perhaps it could be done but if it is about joomla 1.5 + then sorry mate , this version is completely rewritten from ground up and thus this makes it real difficult to really convert from one platform from other , just look at the API and source code of joomla 1.5 and you`ll see the difference
