Assuming you have Apache webserver with PHP and sql server ready to go, you need to move entire joomla directory under htdocs folder on the new server. Also backup entire schema and restore it on the new sql server instance. In addition you will have to tweak configuration.php.

Visit http://www.joomla.org/download.html to look at the installation, quickstart guide in addition. Also follow security guidelines the site secure.
Good luck!

Mahesh

Yeah, same server software on both servers. I can do the backups okay. Just don't know how to restore the MySql part. Maybe it's in WHM/CPanel. Thanks

Use mysqldump and mysqlimport to do the trick.

i have a far better and easy solution for you , just do following
1. get a component called joomlapack (its free)
2. create a joomla backup executable
3. upload it to server and just run the url from browser ,

you have it ! within minutes you will have old joomla site to new server
hope that helps
