Hoping someone can help me out here - already spent quite a bit of time on this problem.

I have a site running with Joomla! 1.0.13 which I want to upgrade to 1.0.15. The site is too complex to move over to 1.5.x without major re-working - which at this point in time is not an option.

I downloaded the 1.0.13 to 1.0.15 Stable patch, unzipped and uploaded the files via ftp to a dev server the host has set up for me. I then logged into the admin area, and the bottom still says that it is running 1.0.13. I have tried downloading a fresh copy of the patch files this morning, to the same effect.

I can see through the ftp program that the files have updated - as the date changes. Have had quite a bit of support from the host, and I don't thing that the hosting environment is the problem.

Is this a known bug with this upgrade?

Reading the release notes, it says that the update is for a line of code which was in 1.0.13 but ommited from 1.0.14, and subsequently re-inserted into the 1.0.15 release. Does this mean that i don't necessarily get any security benefits from this upgrade?

Thanks, Emma.

There are a *lot* of benefits to the upgrades, so it is worth it to get this figured out.

It sounds like you are doing everything right, really, so it's a strange issue. I'd go over and check the basics again - make sure you're:

- at the right FTP address

- that address corresponds to the server you're logging in to, both in URL and IP (in case you're accessing a backup, etc.)

- that the FTP files are truly overwriting

- etc.

If you can't find the solution, I'd say setup a local server using WAMP, recreate your site locally ( will take some time but it's not too difficult ) and then patch the files. You'd be able then to see if :

(1) the problem recreated itself (if not, it's a hosting or connection issue)
(2) ..you could essentially then just delete the development filies, and upload your patched local ones.

That's a lengthy solution for what seems like an essentially minor problem - but - doing this would give you more testing options and stability into the future.

good luck,
HC

Thanks HC,

Will give it a go building locally... I'm on a mac and have an apache server running with mysql and php, so i guess i'll just have to bite the bullet and set it up locally...

Been over all the emails, checked addresses, it all seems okay... so I think local is my only option.

Thanks again, Emma.

Okay, found the problem - dev site definitions provided were incomplete.... all fixed now, thanks for the tips HC... went through systematically to find exactly where the connection was failing...

It all took much longer than I thought necessary, with much repetition, but now it's all working! :D

hi mustang70, i hope you check this post. I have the same problem. I ran uploaded the files from the 1.0.13 to 1.0.15 unzipped package to the server via FTP and after putting the site back online and checking the version in the administator page it still says 1.0.13 but the site works fine. What is this dev site definitions you are referring to? Thanks,

Jimmy K
