Strange thing... I have no icons in the backend, just text. Everything works fine, but no icons. I've searched the forum for an answer, but to no avail. I assume this is a permissions error, but can't seem to correct it.

Any suggestions?

I used book Joomla 1.5 a Users guide by Barrie North.
I installed today and got the same thing. So I'm wondering if the installation was bad. Any feedback woudl be great to get the controal panel showing correctly.

What I did notice is that when you scroll down you can and hit "mainmenu" You can navigate through the site to all the "places" which are supposed to show on the control panel. The control panel just seems to be shortcuts.

But any feedback on how to get the control panel showing the icons instead of the text would be great.

I used wamp5 1.7.4 and installed a local host on my computer.
and Joomla 1.5.22
to be consistent with the Book.

Should I answer? Probably not, because you are in a training program. But, in dozens of installs, I've never seen this. I upload the entire Joomla version to the server, tell the server to extract the files, in less than one minute it is done and I can begin setting up.

So I don't know how to do a local install, but if there is a way for you to just extract-in-place, you don't have the risk of all the ftp losses and so on.
