Not bad, the full calendar view messes with the layout though it pushes it out, is the front page the only place we can add events ?

I did all you people had suggested. But when I open the event, I get a problem with my POLL.
It says:
Code:
MB DB function failed with error number 1064
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'OR pm.menuid = 0 ) AND p.id = pm.pollid AND p.published = 1' at line 3 SQL=SELECT p.id, p.title FROM jos_polls AS p, jos_poll_menu AS pm WHERE ( pm.menuid = OR pm.menuid = 0 ) AND p.id = pm.pollid AND p.published = 1
SQL =

SELECT p.id, p.title
FROM jos_polls AS p, jos_poll_menu AS pm
WHERE ( pm.menuid =  OR pm.menuid = 0 )
AND p.id = pm.pollid
AND p.published = 1

Probably something to do with this function. But I cannot figure out what. Any ideas you guys?

Ok, here is more info.

Running on linux, apache 1.3.33, mysql 4.1.10a and php 4.3.10

Poll is placed in position 'left'
events  calendar is in position 'user 3'
I do not get the problem in the events latest but just as I go to the calender or the detail I get this message.

First I had the problem with the Fatal error: Cannot redeclare clone() But that's solved now. Instead I get this error.
Is this info enough?

I don't know what the fix is but I can see the problem.  Firefox is not sizing the days properly - dates with no events are almost zero pixels wide and dates with events are as wide as the longest sentence (instead of breaking to a new line).

Like I said, I don't know what to recommnd to fix it.

Hi
Dont know if this will help - but I've taken to using the HTML Validator Markup Service over at W3C (http://validator.w3.org/) which shows up all the bad habits in my source! If you're using FF then theres a developer toolbar extension which makes running these checks much easier (http://chrispederick.com/work/webdeveloper/). While my (At)temp(t)lates are still a very long way from being pure, I'm gradually working my way through the errors the Validator Service throws up and things are improving a lot.
Good luck!
A

I just installed the events modules and component and everything seemed to go fine.

I deleted the event.php lines recommended. (By the way, also the 500s line, but the orginal person had their code set to double space, thus the line number discrepancy.)

I entered a test category and event, and that is all showing up okay, but...

When you try to view the event I get this error:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare clone() (previously declared in /www/smi/apps.swiftnews.com/joomla/includes/compat.php50x.php(9) : eval()'d code:1) in /www/smi/apps.swiftnews.com/joomla/components/com_events/events.php(545) : eval()'d code on line 2

Also, when I click on a calendar date :
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare clone() (previously declared in /www/smi/apps.swiftnews.com/joomla/includes/compat.php50x.php(9) : eval()'d code:1) in /www/smi/apps.swiftnews.com/joomla/components/com_events/events.php(545) : eval()'d code on line 2

I am using Joomla 1.0.3....
here is a link to the cal:
http://apps.swiftnews.com/joomla/index. ... &Itemid=41

Has anyone seen a similiar problem with a fresh install of Joomla?

Thanks a billion!
Jen :)

I've set aside the other Events Calendar as outdated for the latest Joomla versions, and tried downloading extCalendar Component  ( http://mamboforge.net/projects/extcalendar) instead.  It is actually nicer looking and is working great...

The only issue I have is that there doesn't seem to be a back-end event admin.  Does anyone know of a setting I'm missing or a hack I could use?

Jen :)

Here is something interesting...

I have my calendar set to be public, and it's showing up, but I was getting those fatal errors whenever I tried to view anything.  Now that I am logged in, the links work...

Has anyone seen this problem before?

Thanks,
Jen :)

on one of my sites I got this error when trying to view the calendar module's "this month" link:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare displaycalendarmod() (previously declared in \modules\mod_events_cal.php:209) in \modules\mod_events_cal.php on line 209

i already did the fix for the main events.php.

Well,

I had the same issue with my events cal so I opened the events.php. I have no linenumbers at all...its all 'soup'. I located the lines and removed the offending code. Now I have a new error...

Parse error: parse error, unexpected ',' in /home/online/public_html/content/components/com_events/events.php on line 399

Any ideas? I want to stick with this component. Can anyone let me download a working copy of this please?  Its a shame the installation files could not be updated.

Hi.
  Jing and warmac both had problems that were not solved here. I had the same problem - couldn't save an event (my FF JavaScript console said something like "form.content has no property".

  For me, the problem was that I had "No WYSIWYG editor" selected (and none installed). I also didn't have anything there for the "Activity" section of the event details. I installed TMedit and set it up, and now everything works (activity box is available, now with wysiwyg, and save works). - I hope this helps someone else.

(BTW, when I installed Joomla, I imported my Mambo database and copied my components, but the default wysiwyg editor TinyMCE was not available.)

Can you give the specific code that needs to be commented out?

Yes:

Code:
/* MLr: ugly hack to cope with PHP4/PHP5 differences
* concerning use of references (thanks to http://www.acko.net/node/54)
*/
//if (version_compare(phpversion(), '5.0') < 0) {
//    eval('
//    function clone($object) {
//      return $object;
//    }
//    ');
//}

In my 'events.php' file it was line 537 till 546.

This thread has been very helpful, now I've got a new problem.  I'm running Joomla 1.0.11.  I installed the events calendar and encountered the problem at the top of the thread.  So I uninstalled this calendar and installed another.  That one turned out to be incompatible with my version of Joomla so in the process of searching for a third calendar, I uncovered this thread.  I reinstalled the original calendar, installed the JoomlaXplorer, edited out the section of code at line 540, and now when I try to create a new category, I'm getting some kind of java (I think) error.  Basically the save button is unresponsive and the bottom left corner of the browser shows "Error on Page".

On my first installation, I was able to create categories and events, the problem was I would get the message mentioned at the start of this thread whenever I clicked on the calendar to see an event.

Thanks in advance for any help you can direct me too.

Perk
