Everything I've read says I'll have to start over. I like my site as is, but I want to be able to have a blog page, videos and more control. I'm not a techie and have read different directions on what needs to be done. Seems complicated. Is there an easy way to upgrade and keep my site looking the exact same way with all it's content (here's a link: http://www.healingandhopehouston.com/)? If there isn't an easy way for a non tech person, who can do this for me and what would it normally cost.
Thanks for your help!
Silvia

no, it's not a simple task to go from a very old J!1.0 release to the latest version, you will basically need to either completely rebuild and manually copy the content from the old site to the new site, or step through and upgrade process from J!1.0 > J!1.5 > J!1.6/7 or J!2.5

You will need to do your research first though, in any above case/option, to find an equivalent template that works in the new version, and any extensions on the J!1.0 site that will also work on the newer site. Have you considered contacting the original developers of the site?

The original developers were very expensive and it was done a few years back. Too bad. I like my site the way it is just wanted some added functionality. Do you do this type of work? How much should something like this cost? Thanks for the reply!

without knowing the site, content and components used, or how much work is involved to convert the template, could be anywhere from $1000 upwards... and quite a bit of time...

I would suggest that it might pay to install a new J!2.5 site when it is released next week or so, and take your time re-building it it yourself and copying across all the content. It pays to stay up to date, otherwise you end up in very difficult update situations, like this.

The one way is to do it manually copying stuff from old version to new version. It may take some time if u have more number of pages.
Other way is to hire any Joomla freelancer, there are many websites where people can bid. You can tell your budget and requirements.
I used services from a website longtime back http://www.vworker.com/
Plz make sure to check the ratings of the freelancers before hiring.
I would still suggest you to do it yourself if its not a big website. You will save your money.
