Hi,

I upgraded a Mambo 4.5.2.3 site to Joomla 1.0.8 following the instructions in the Migration instructions given. Finding that Site Configuration goes blank after Save/Apply changes and deletes the contents of the configuration.php file. Site Configuration would load fine, it's only when I click the save/apply button this problem occurs.

configuration.php is set to 664 with apache as the group so it should be able to write to it. I have also tried making it 777 but didn't solve it.

I had htmlarea3 editor as default, tried changing it to tinymce or no editor from configuration.php but still getting this problem. Not sure if it was editor issue in the first place but I thought I give it a go anyway - but no luck.

Does anyone else experience this problem or know how to solve it?

Thanks!

Strange, are you sure that you aren't using Joomla 1.0.6. This was the exact same problem with configuration.php. This is the first I have heard of this after that particular patch.

No - I'm sure it's Joomla 1.0.8 the latest one released a few days ago.
After posting I saw some other people have complaints with the Site Config though I don't know if their problems have anything to do with mine. Links:
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,42084.0.html
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,42203.0.html

So what happens is, Site Config would load fine, doesn't matter whether you make changes or not as soon as you hit Apply/Save the page goes blank and you'd find that the configuration.php is empty (0kb). Once the configuration.php is replaced with a working copy, hit refresh and you see the message "Configuration has been saved properly" which seems to have got carried across from previously unfinished request.

FYI, we're using LAMP server with PHP 4.3.10 and MySQL 4.1.15.
I also had problem with this bit of the migration instruction:
---
MySQL 4.1 requires the mysqli libraries to be used to access the database.  To be able to install and use Joomla! in under this configuration, rename database.php to database.mysql.php and then rename database.mysqli.php to database.php.
---
I get this when I followed the above instructions:
Image
but works okay if I skip this step - so that's what I've done.

Any ideas how to solve it?

Thanks - appreciate all replies.

This is a serious problem for you if configuration.php is being overwritten after just saving it. This will be hard to solve if this can't be reproduced. Are there any error messages visible in your Apache log?

As this report is now more than 30 days old and no additional information has been added it is being moved to the `Superceded Issues` forum
