[FEATURE REQUEST] - PDF or Print option without your domain name or URL
Joomla default template - SVN installation - browser FF
Where to see: PDF or Print option in an article
Result: the window shows a new page and it isn't available your site domain name or the specific URL of your page.
I consider that as a bug if somebody has deleted the needed URL (that it has to be showed in your printed page or in you PDF page) in the code, is it right?!

Re: PDF or Print option without your domain name or URL
In order to avoid any misunderstanding if you print the page you can control the layout of the printed page and in that case you can print your URL or domain name.
In PDF this isn't possible. I save and archive the file. If printed no URL available. But if you find a common solution I think PDF and Print should be more fine.

Re: PDF or Print option without your domain name or URL
No problem, per example please press the PDF button and see the displayed article, you cannot see your site reference (URL or domain name or slogan or whatever you like) or rembember where that saved file comes from...
IHMO that feature has to show in the page in automatic the source site and not to be anonymous.

Are you talking about this (please see attachment) ?
If yes, I can't get that to show via pdf button.

Re: PDF or Print option without your domain name or URL
I was thinking the same thing.
When you do print view or pdf view (using the pdf/print buttons generated by Joomla, not the browser) you only get the content, no indication of where it came from. Is there a template or something to modify to allow you to place like a logo or web address into the pdf or print view?

Re: PDF or Print option without your domain name or URL
I am not sure where is the correct place to do so, but I think it's possible to add a logo.
try components/com_content/article/tmpl/view.pdf.php.
I was wondering maybe this thread issue can be fixed within this file (by adding header) too.

that's the problem! IMHO you can simply add a link to that page, it's important not to be anonymousMobilla wrote: I was thinking the same thing.

Re: PDF or Print option without your domain name or URL
Interesting idea.
It would be a nice extra feature.
i've just played around a little bit in libraries\tcpdf\tcpdf.php, at line 1308, changed:
$this->header_title = $ht;
to:
$this->header_title = $_SERVER["HTTP_HOST"];
Yes, I know thats for displaying the title, I'm just playing.
And it shows the domain name/host instead of the title, without http:// or the pagename itself.
It's a small beginning, but it should be possible to show somewhere at the page the full URL.

I have marked this as a feature request. I don't consider this as a priority for 1.5 and would rather move it to the wishlist forum.

Re: [FEATURE REQUEST] - PDF or Print option without your domain name or URL
I am also trying to display a logo and a full page url in the print page.
My way of going about it is to edit the index2 file in the Joomla root. I am oblovious to any side-effects that might have, so please alert me to any adverse consequences of doing so.
In index2.php I inserted the following:
Unfortunately this does not quite work because the linked url display picks up the url of the print page not of the full page where the print button was clicked. A little bit of php code will be needed to convert the url by stripping a few parts from it, but I don't know how to code php. So, I posted a question about how to do this but got no response (see http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,234610.0.html).
As I am not hindered by any real knowledge about Joomla or php it seems to me that this is very close to a solution that can be implemented very easily, so any suggestions are welcome!
UPDATE: I solved it, see http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,235086.0.html.

Re: [FEATURE REQUEST] - PDF or Print option without your domain name or URL
The Joomla community saved me so much work and enabled me to do so much that my small contribution is merely the least I could do.
I agree that this should be part of the Joomla development. IE prints a footer with the url of the page printed but that is the printer-friendly popup url.
If something like my solution were to be included in the Joomla core development it would also be possible to use sessions to pass on the full article url to the popup and that would reduce my bit of code by 90%.
Moreover, if this were to be implemented as a mambot that is part of the Joomla development, administrators could switch this functionality on and off, set the logo, set the text to be used, set what comes at the top or at the bottom of the page, etc.
Even better, if AJAX were to be used the popup could be built into the full page article so that (if I am not mistaken) the url printed by IE would be the correct url.
