Could there be a class field added to the image browser?

Right now there is no way to control the images inserted, I don't use an editor myself but many users and clients do and you can't ask them to edit the html through the editor.

Having a class option would allow designers to create css for different images that need to be used in content.

I don't think this is a feature or a wish but a must have for a content management system.

Joomla! is for content management and images are part of articles so Joomla! should offer some option to handle images in content and the class option is a simple but effective method to have some control over the images in articles.

I really hope you rethink this move.

While Louis is doing a re-factor of the media manager, this should be a change he can do while drinking a cold beer me thinks ;-)

Actually while thinking about it we already support this functionality through the individual editors. Joomla! 1.5 support an editor.css file you can put in your template in that css file you can define a list of classes, those classes are loaded into TinyMCE and XStandard and can be selected when editing an image. All you need to do is insert the image and then change the image attributes through the editor.
