PR Material: Joomla! Websites

Post by AmyStephen » Sun Mar 11, 2007 3:04 pm

I want to share a collection of 200 websites that demonstrate various ways Joomla! software can be used. It was encouraging to me to see how the Joomla! community has lifted Joomla! up with their talent and skill and time and passion. This collection of sites came out of answering the question "What kind of websites can be built with Joomla!?" And, in my research I found so many diverse ways that people are using Joomla! to solve their problems, I ended up with 50 categories each with four amazing examples in each category.

I would appreciate your help. Please review and let me know if any of the websites are not Joomla! sites. Or, if you believe there is a better example, post the link and your reasoning for your choice. Also, if there are categories missing, I am interested in hearing that (and would very much appreciate you also sharing four sites that fit that category.)

This collection of resources is freely available when you are giving presentations about Joomla! at work, or in your community, or in a book you are writing, or in a newsletter, or on your blog, or with your Joomla! User Group, whatever! Just help get the word out to others that Joomla! is an option they can consider for their need because it is so flexible!

Resources:
Wiki
Flickr

Thank you, most especially to those of you who built these sites and doing such great work!
Amy :)

PS: There is an enormous zip file on the Wiki site to download all of the 1024 x 768 images, if desired.

Edit: modified the website name.

Thanks, Brian, I appreciate your guidance on this as I have pulled things together.

Brian and I have spent some time brainstorming a good way for us to combine lists and create a very open, usable site resource for the community. We've got some good ideas starting. If you have a great collection - or you want a great collection of J! sites - and are willing to work with us, we would very much appreciate your help and ideas.

I should have a draft version of this as joomla content later on today. Just ironing out a few kinks in the system

Good job.
Maybe a few more sites (and many french examples) here: http://forum.joomlafacile.com/forumdisplay.php?f=39
(first thread there is about "big" joomla sites)
and here:
http://forum.joomlafacile.com/showthread.php?t=1123
about "unusual" J! sites..
Keep going Amy!

I want to share a Google Video that uses most of slides in a video with the fabulous Joomla! song composed and performed by Anand Omkar.  Feel free to use it to promote Joomla!. Anand licensed his work with a CC AT-NC-ND 2.0 license, so please observe those guidelines.

To view the Google Video:
Take this link

To embed in your blogs or websites:
Turn off your WYSIWYG editor and copy and paste this code into your articles.
To download a higher quality file:
Download from the JoomlaPlace PR material site; warning: it is an enormous 147 MB.

+++++

Thanks for the kind words and support!

Wendy - thank you, again, for reviewing the material, providing feedback and suggesting the Gaming Category and for also providing links.

Joe - Thanks for those links. I have been to one of those pages you listed, before, and discovered a number of great sites thanks to the French community. Best wishes for your coming event.

Note: the material is now on a site named JoomlaPlace.org so that I can move it, as needed. This site does not contain my name. It is just a place where PR material can be shared for the community's use that can't be published here. If someone wants to share material at that location, please contact me.

Thanks again!
Amy :)

This is really good.

I should have a "smaller" version of this available as a non-video component later today

This is Amys collection of sites packed as a component using JM_Portfolio from juicymedia to provide a nice animated flash book of the sites.

Just watch those pages turn  ;D

Amy, I love love love it. I've always wondered why there is no centralized listing of Joomla-based websites, and if there is any other alternative other than the official Joomla website (which is hardly newbie-friendly).

If you need help or anything from the rest of us, just holler.
