I'm glad to hear you've made some changes. I might have to try again using the latest file. I got it working, but was a little unsure of how to alter the last SQL statement which gives certain users the rights to add recipes. Otherwise it worked fine on my Joomla! 1.0.2 test site.

I understand your reluctance to put it up when you don't see an interest. However, as Nic said if people saw it there maybe you'd get some help and more use! I plan to use it on my family site and I think anyone else with a site like that would find a use. I appreciate your efforts so far.

Is it possible to change the category assignement values? My site is primarily focused on weight loss and healthy diet - so many of those are unnecessary or would be more useful to me as a different value.

Thanks!

Unfortunatelly the only way to do this at the moment is via the database manually.
I am sorry I havent found the time to make a backend for it yet. I ll try to do it later today (and try to open a joomlaforge account for it as well).

Vavroom, I'm curiious. Based on your experience, how could I be thinking about how to better organize my recipes? This sounds interesting.

Kudos to Koyan for this component.

I opened an account and created a project there. When it gets authorised I will upload the files there, and start assigning real version numbers.
Be well,

I uninstalled the original version and then installed the new component, but couldn't find anything that let me alter the child categories. The administration still says there are no back end functions? Maybe I'm just newer to this than I thought.. LOL. Can you point me in the right direction?

Sorry, it is there, but I didnt make it visible!!! Sorry again:
2 ways:

a) Without reinstalling, if you go on "Components"/"Prince Clan Cookbook" and just click on it (without going to "Manage Recipies Categories") you will see a link saying: "Categories Administration"

b) Redownload it, uninstall and reinstall (I think I fixed now, but you will have to tell me).

Note to anyone who is already using it: BACKUP ALL YOUR COOKBOOK DATABASE TABLES BEFORE REINSTALLING. IT IS NOT AN UPGRADE IT IS A WIPE OUT AND REINSTALL. RESTORE YOUR COOKBOOK DATABASE TABLES AFTER REINSTALLING. I HAVENT FIGURED OUT HOW TO BUILD AN "Update Only" YET.

Thanks
Konstantinos

I checked option A first. All I see when I do that is " There are no back end administrator functions for the Prince Clan Cookbook."

So, I tried option B. I still get " There are no back end administrator functions for the Prince Clan Cookbook."

???

Very strange. But stranger things have happened.

Anyway, I have done still a few minor changes, and I have reuploaded it.
Try this link:
http://www.dianthos.net/files/com_pccookbookV1.1.zip

Also, when you uninstall your old version, and install this one, check out in the " Installed Components" page, to see what version it writes next to the component name: the new one is 1.1 the old one was 0.1.
If you keep on seeing 0.1 then you havent installed the new one.
Keep me posted,
Konstantinos

Very nice component

If you want to add a french translation, here is mine.
It's quite late so I hope there is no fault, but anyway I'll check tomorrow ;)

Thank you very much!!
I will put it in the installation files

Joomla forge update:
I created the project 2 days ago. I got a message on the web site, telling me that an administrator will look at it and contact me when they authorise it. Noone has contacted me yet.
I am reluctant of re-adding the project.
I will let you know when I have news.

Update:
I have created the project in joomla forge (pccookbook).
I have uploaded the code there for whoever wants to work on it.
I have also made the tracker accessible to everyone (I hope I did it right).

So, if anyone wants to change anything, or request anything, feel free.

Sorry, I am new to the sourceforge thing. I have set now the correct privilidges to the download area (I hope, please tell me if I havent. I am trying it myself from a non-logged in computer to make sure).
I have uploaded the source code using svn (which BTW rocks: much better than cvs).
I have also created 5 packages in the file releases: 1 for the component, 3 for the modules, and one for the search mambot.
Feel free to download.
Does anyone knows how can we use the tracker? I dont see how users can add requests to it (or I missunderstand the use of the tracker). Isnt it something like the bugzilla? If yes, how do users add tickets to it?

Thanks
Koyan

go to project admin.
select 'tracker settings' from link group on left.
you should have a button that will let you create a tracker somewhere on right.
once you press the create, put in tracker name and description.
press the create button again.
you should now have one tracker.

you may have to set permissions for each tracker you create.

users have to be logged into the forge to be able to make an entry I believe

...also, download perms now set ok, can access even whe not logged into the forge.

as an aside, you could have set the download up a little differently...

currently, you have all set up as different packages, each released under a different package.

what you could have done, is make one package, for PcCookBook, and released everything inside that package.

the advantage of that is that someone who would like the lot, then only has to press the download package button, to recieve everthing in a zip package, which they can then unzip on their comp, and install to their devl/live server.

people still have the choice of downloading each item however.

All the rest of the administration happens from the front end
From the front end you can create the recipes, from there you can edit them, and from there you can authorise (if you are the super admin user. I have to fix that to give to all the administrators this right).
When you are logged in from the front end, the "menu" module, shows additional administration options.

Would someone mind posting a link to their use of this module. I'd love to see what it looks like and if I could use it for a different purpose.

The most used one:
http://www.sintagespareas.gr (sorry, it is in greek :-))

http://goetz-family.org/portal/componen ... Itemid,64/

http://www.princeclan.org/component/opt ... ,77/ (original without the modules)

Those are the ones I know off.

Wonderful Component, thank you.

I am missing something, however. I have everything installed, nothing I do seems to alter the Categories and I can't find where to enter the recipes. I'm very sorry to ask if this is obvious to everyone...I've read through this thread many times and I still can't figure it out.

To alter the categories: In the back end (administration), go to "Components"/"Prince Clan Cookbook"/"Manage Recipe Categories"
(note: you can only edit the categories at the moment. The category groups are still to come).

To add/edit/authorise a recipe: you do that from the front end. Every logged in user can add a recipe and an administrator can make it "authorised".

When you are logged in the "menu" module (mod_pccb_menu.zip) shows some additional items, like "add recipe" etc.
In an alternative version (that I believe that I will make official at some time) the "add recipe" appears always (but only logged in users can add a recipe), and non-logged in users get to a page saying "you need to log in to see this" (so that visitors know that they can add a recipe)

Thanks Koyan, I am now able to see the "add recipe". Again, I apologize but my "Browse by Category" screen has 2 categories: Course & Mediterranean. Under Course is Appetizers, under Mediterranean is Greek. My Recipies Category Manager has a list of 41 categories, should these also be listed on the "Browse by Category" screen?

It only lists in the front end categories that have a recipe in them :-)
And since you only have the temp data that comes with the installation :-)
When you add more recipes and assigne them to categories, the categories will be visible :-)

AHHHHH ! ! ! ! That makes perfect sense. I am so sorry for being so slow on "getting" this. Thank you so much for the wonderful component, your hard work is greatly appreciated.
