I am just looking into it and i have a feeling that the recipe menu is tied to the mktree.css that is used to format the listing of the categories and sections......

Hi gecko5,

You could try modifying the styles inside the mktree.css in an obvious way (add a color red or a padding 50 to something and see what changes).

I was able to adjust well enough with the template css which was in /templates/yourtemplate/css/ in my case.  The authority will be Koyan or whomever made the template you are using.

Wow! Koyan, it sounds like you've done a LOT to this component. I can't wait to try upgrade my site. :)

As can be seen at:
http://developer.joomla.org/sf/frs/do/v ... okbook/frs
The last update was on the 5th of November, thats, 18 days ago.
I am working on a few things on it right now. I will upload them as soon as I have something:
a) The "show all recipes" with pagination
b) The administration of group categories.

Yes it is. It also controls the "tree" effect (With the + and - signs that open the categories)

richm wrote:
Modifying the language file is optional, but recommended for US users.  In the US, we tend to spell it "Favorite" instead of "Favourite," and I think "recipies" is just a mis-spelling, so I would go through and change at least those (plus "authorise" while you are at it).

:-) All "recipies" now corrected to "recipes". It will be in the next release

I am not making the other change standard  unless there is a general request from the people here (or in the sourceforge site).

One note Dagonee: some of the original functionality of "who can add recipes" was removed when I was making the component for Stella (when I first worked on it). So, it might behave differently than the one you have on your site. Take a good backup before you update :-)
Also: I have made no "update" functionality (because there are now more fields in the table design than the original). So you might want to do the upgrade very carefully :-)

When I see code updates, that can be used for everyone, I put them in the core files. :-)

Ok, first set of chagnes:
View All recipes

Instructions for upgrade (for those who have it already installed):

1) add the following line in your language file:
define("_RECIPES_ALL", "All Recipes");
(those of you using a different language, please send me the translations for adding them to the relevant files)

2) Download and reinstall the mod_pccb_menu  (the menu module)
2b) Those of you that have changed the module to show only "My recipes" instead of "My favourite recipes" you will have to redo it

3) Download the following files from jooblaforge (do a "save link as")
include.pccookbook.php
pccookbook.php

4) Put the files in your "components/com_pccookbook" directory

5) See the page at index.php?option=com_pccookbook&page=viewallrecipes

6) The current pagination is set to 20 recipes per page. If you want to change that, this is line 36 of pccookbook.php:
define('_rec_per_page',20);

hi, great component!!!  thanks!

question:  since the site i'm working on now is Asian and not Greek, how do I delete the two sample items that come with the component?  I cannot delete the categories unless I delete the items.  Thus, my question.

Again, thank you!!

At the moment you can only delete them from the database. Sorry. It is one of the things in the to do list (hey, is anyone outthere interested in helping? :-) )

Hi,
I would be interested for helping of course, as you know  ;)
I nearly finish my first hack of this component, it's quite personnal and I guess it's a dirty hack (as I'm not a coder) but it's working (well if you still feed the receipes directly in the database- 2 tables to use receipe and receipe category )
so for now the component can display a pict for the sub-category and for the recipe, near the title, and I added 2 new fields "Time of Preparation" and "time of cooking" I'm currently working on a third one "Notes/advices"
My second hacking project is to link to the "Community builder" profil.
and my third will be to link this component to the MOSWINES. In order to be able to give some wine references with the receipe.
I'm also considering a mosbot (based on the wonderful one made by Djesus for Bookmarks) to display the receipe in a content.

The web site: http://www.toque-et-verre.com/

Ok, so in order for us to make it more organised, we follow the next procedure:
1) You create an account at joomlaforge for yourself
2) I approve you as admin of the project
3) You download and install a svn client (I can help with that)
4) You checkout the code localy on your computer, adapt it, and commit changes.
5) We check (any help is appreciated)
6) We release.

In the meantime: I have just uploaded a few additions:
a) The administration now administers the group categories as well
b) The installation of the component has been updated to v1.2 (including all the changes since the previous one: administration and front ent).

Konstantinos

I am just wondering if upgrading to V1.2 will reset the database?
And does it change the format of the base?
In otherwords, will I have to do anything to adapt my data to any new format or not?

I added the All Recipes item to the menu according to your instructions - perfect, thank you!!

If you follow the instructions for upgrade from above, it will NOT reset the database.
The database WILL get reset, if you uninstall and reinstall the component.
There is no change in the data format with the changes so far.

Koyan, I can't thank you enough for this component, as I'm making great use of it as a Drink Recipe component on my site.

1 issue however.

I want to let unregistered users browse the recipies, but for some reason, when i click on a speciifc recipe, it says i'm not authorized to view it.

See this url for reference: http://www.thedrunktank.com/option,com_pccookbook/Itemid,104/

The message you get is a standart Mambo/joomla message, that gets returned when you have a component tied up with a menu (any menu) and you have the "Access level" to "registered"
There must be a menu like that that gives you this behaviour

Be well,
Koyan

got it

the problem is yet again the itemid problem i discussed with koyan before.
Problem is that there in no item id being appended onto the url therefore joomla does not know where in the system it belongs to therefore you are getting the message you are.

for example

http://www.thedrunktank.com/option,com_ ... cat_id,65/

and now try

http://www.thedrunktank.com/option,com_ ... temid,104/

(i appended the itemid to the url)

To be honest im not to familiar with the specifics of this com (i have developed loads my self) therefore i cant tell you exactly what lines you have to modify....
(strange its never posed a problem before hmmmm )

Koyan, you should append the Itemid's onto the urls for a furture release

Have a great day
ER

Well I guess for now my users will have to register if they want access to this drink database. I better fill it up and give them a reason to register!

Koyan, great component!

I've modified my database to display recipes for mead, wine, beer and other things, as well as food. You can check it out here:
http://gotmead.com/index.php?option=com ... &Itemid=34

Mainly I used Navicat to alter the tables to show my custom categories, and made some changes in the english.php file.

Love it, love it!

Couple questions:

1. How can I set it so that the main recipe page opens with the main categories exploded, i.e.:

Mead
...Plain Mead
...Melomel
...etc.
Beer
...beertype1
...beertype2
...etc

rather than having it come up closed?

2. When I installed this, it kept telling me I wasn't authorised to add or change recipes (though I was logged in as administrator). A check of the database showed that that jos_cookbook table didn't have any records. Once I manually filled this, I could then administer recipes and such. I did a clean install, is there a glitch in this part or is my system just messed up? (It works great now!) Also, where do you create additional cookbooks, if such can be created?

Keep up the great work, and thanks for all you've done so far!

Cool site, I have never seen how to make mead before.  But what is Christmasberry Honey?  I did a site search and could not find it defined.

Koyan, I am also interested in #1 above -- I might have asked before and I know you are busy, but it would be nice when you don't have that many categories or sub-categories.  Thanks for all the work you have been doing lately, this is a great component.

Anyone know if its possible to just get a list of the categories, nothing to expand or be expanded, just a uniform list. The way I have my database and site setup this would be ideal.

OK, this is weird. I logged into my site as me (not admin) and tried to enter a recipe. I got the following error:
"Sorry, you don't have rights to add or delete a recipe. Please login or create an account on Gotmead to add recipes."

Since I *was* logged in, why is this happening? The jos_cookbook table shows that you must have a minimum '0' level to add recipes, so I should be good, this user is 'registered' level.

Any ideas? I'm getting ready to let folks sign up and start adding their recipes, so if they can't *do* that, this is a problem.....

Meadwench,

This may not be the issue, but it may be related. When someone creates an account, as admin, you have to give them rights to publish, and then when they add a recipe, it will not appear yet.  The next time YOU login as ADMIN you will see an additiona link under the recipe menu "publish unauthorized recipe'.  That link takes you to their recipe and below the portions you check whether the recipe is authorized (will show up) or not.
Then the recipe will be visible.

Same with the comments.

Nope, it just won't even let you *get* to the recipe creation page. That's whats weird.
