OK I feel like an idiot that I can't figure this out.

I have community builder installed and have Enable Connections set at yes.  The problem is that I can't figure out how people create the connections. I don't see anything in the profile that says add me as a friend.  I also don't see anything under the Manage Connections tab. 

So how do people go about creating those connections?

I have found this description: 

"The Connections Tab is empty because you have no current connections. In order to connect to someone you first need to locate the other person's profile and visit it. You can use the CB Lists user menu item and find someone you like and click on the list line to get to the users profile. You can then Connection->Request Connection menu item (located on the top of the profile you are viewing) in order to request to connect to this person. You are also allowed to send a personal request. Once the other person accepts the request you will be connected and your Connections Tab will reflect this."

The problem is that the Request Connection Menu item is missing.  How do I add one or activate it?

This is what is in the "connections" tab
By the way this is what I have in my connections tab:

Enable connections: Yes
Display Type: Public
Display Connection Path: Yes
Mutual Consent: yes
Notification Method: PMS and Email
Cross Connections: Yes
Connection Types: (A listing of types)

I have done the following as well and they are all set-up and published:

Make sure connections are enabled in the CB configuration. ~ done
Make sure the connections plugin is published. ~ done
Make sure the connections tab is published. ~ done

same problem

To add a new contact first go to another user's profile. Assuming you have not removed any tabs after you installed CB, at the top of the profile, above the picture, is a menu. On the menu it has listed "Community, Edit, Connections"

Move your mouse to "Connections" you will see something like "add connection"

Once you add it, then if you have an instant messaging service running then it will contact the other user. If you don't have an instant messaging plugin then when the user goes to their profile, they will have to go to "manage connections" to accept the connection.

Hope that helps. The adding connections on CB is atrocious. There should be a simple button below the photo saying "add friend" In fact that is how I came across this thread. I was searching for a plugin that would do just that.
