I am using TinyMCE to submit news.  Before I had JA Submit, TinyMCE had 3 tabs (Images, Publishing, Metadata) after the MainText field.  Why am I not seeing these tabs if JA Submit is using the default editor??

Incredible, there is no support to this component from the developer. Are they preparing a commercial version maybe?

I am not sure if this is an issue with this component or Joomla in general but I have logged in a admin from the frontend.  I did NOT have it "Remember Me".  When I submit an article with this component or cancel an article I am automatically logged out.  I only stay logged in if I have it "Remember Me".

EDIT:  Oddly I checked Global Config for login timeout and the value was set to "9tinymce"?

Anyone else having a problem with the image resizing? I'm using 2.1 and everything else seems to work fine (at this point).

The resizing script is borrowed from a third party developer. Maybe there's a workaround for the resizing???

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: imagecreatefromjpeg() in g:\http\www\components\com_ja_submit\resize.php on line 33

I have disabled auto resizing in the JA Submit's configuration.

I have a WinXP Pro SP2 Server with EasyPHP1-8 running, it includes apache 1.3.33 - php 4.3.10 - mysql 4.1.9 - phpmyadmin 2.6.1 and the version os JA Submit is 2.1  .

I don't seem to be able to get the component to work at all. For starters, I get the pull-down menu, but it won't remember the settings for Enabled, Submit Rules and Guides, and Enable auto image resize.

Any ideas?

Hello there.

I am currently working on developing a Joomla Site that will encourage user participation through the use of submitting links, content and various other things. I tried using the SUBMIT NEWS link that comes pre installed with Joomla but as I have found out this is only useful for publishers or admins as I cannot figure out how to make it work for REGISTERED MEMBERS. I continuously receive UNAUTHORIZED ERRORS.

So this lead me to my next step of finding a module or component that will allow my registered members to submit news articles to one category. I came across something called Jasubmit created by Joomlaart. I installed this component and configured it to my liking only to discover that this component has a real big problem of displaying the categories it wants to display vs what I want it to display. For instance I have 6 SECTIONS, a total of 30 CATEGORIES. I configure JASUBMIT to use all categories available for submitting news. The component only lists perhaps 17 of these categories for whatever reason. The sections and the categories are both set to public.

I compared notes with the categories that appeared in the component vs the ones that didn't and I cant find any difference between the two. To make things worst Joomlaart has no way of giving support for this component. No forums or anything. I tried a Googlesearch but I only received 12 responses all of which were not in English. I also tried to search for help via this forum but it is very annoying to constantly receive this error when searching “Your query was not specific enough. Try using larger words, or less common phrases.” So I tried about 4-5 different ways of describing what I needed while always getting this error in return. I wish I could bash this forums search engine.

Anyways if anyone could help me out with this component or help me figure out a way to allow registered members to my site to submit content items via one category please let me know.

I take it from what you said in the backend admin section you set it up so when you use this submit component only the 1 category you wish for posters to submit to is available? There are things like double-spacing between paragraphs occuring when pasting text from Word in and font issues that I would like ironed out. If I had more time I would look into this component and attempt to fix it as the developer has vanished (he did message me back saying development is continuing on this component). Maybe I can look into this soon.

I had the same problem getting all categories to display in the previous version. Is it possible you are not using the most current version?

I was able to correct the problem in the previous version by opening ja_submit_html.php and changing this line:
Code:
$database->setQuery( "SELECT * FROM #__categories LIMIT 20");

and bumping the LIMIT up to 50.

The current version sets the limit at 60 so, if you are using the current version, this would not be causing your problem....

Within this component it has a list of which categories are available to submit items into. Out of the 30 available I only need to use 1. So I select it and I click the save button. I log out and log into my site as a registered user and the category drop down box is empty. It works for other categories but not for all of them. This component needs an attitude adjustment

I am using the lastest version available 2.1 but I will open up that file to check it out.

HEY I just tried your fix for that file and my categories were limited to 20. I changed it to 50 and now my all of my categories including the 1 I wanted are available to choose from. Many big thanks as I would of never known to check there.

Does the drop down show all your categories but you only want 1 specific shown?

Right on about the attitude adjustment \m/

I have checked your forum, and now I'm asking directly because I can't find any sort of fix for my problem.
JA Submit email notification isn't working on Sunshade... Could someone please help me with this?

An author submits a story from the front-end.  I check the formatting of the story before publishing it.

This process would be easier if I was actually sent the notification email (have filled in the configuration properly, including my email address), because then I would know there is a story waiting without having to check the submission category all the time.

I can't find a fix to this anywhere on the internet, and I am looking quite hard!  I have even sifted through the php files for the code, thinking it may be an email send type problem (We use a full-blown SMTP server on our joomla webserver) but I can't find where the sendmail or SMTP section of the notification email is!

Your help would be much appreciated, as this component rocks... particularly the upload image and resize function (my authors are joomla illeterate, so this makes image uploading a snap!)

Regards and thanks!

hello! thank you for a great component, it saved me from the trouble of hacking my site to allow users direct publishing  ;)

but i've had a slight problem while categorizing my content, as a fansite we would have two sections, one for anime and the other for manga, but the problem is that i choose the category (which is good) but not the whole section (which is troublesome in my case) you see both anime and manga have genres (drama, romance, humor etc) but on the drop down list all i see is humor (duplicated naturally as one for anime and the other for manga) and romance duplicated and so on with the other section categories.

so i was wondering if there was a way to make the section name to show in the drop down list (anime/drama, anime/romance) or use two drop down lists like the default "ADD CONTENT" where yo uchoose the section and based on your choise the categories are listed.

also another question, i'm allowing only registered users to sibmit directly, so is there a way to make the 'full name' and 'email' fields optional? wierd thing is, it reads the right name and email during and after submission, but after submission the username is unlinked (in the backend while checking for newly submitted content) by unlinked i mean the backend treats the submitting user like a guest (with no CB profile) so i was wondering if theres a solution for that too.

i'm sorry to have to write all this here, this is the only place i found a JA Submit thread  :-[

thank you very much for your hard work and hope to read a response soon!

I have a configuration problem when trying to adjust settings in the back-end.

I get "Config file not writeable!" i don't understand as the configuration.php file is 777 and there is no config file in the jasubmit directory

Edit: Fixed it, settings file was in administrator dir

According to me, this component, doesn't works properly.

Why Rey doesn't share the submission component used on joomla.org?

Ive managed to sort out the problem now.

Im now currently using the JCE editor and within the config you can add and remove the small icons which appear above the text box.

Doing this enables you to change the width and the height of the editor.
