This is NOT true. JA Submit works fine on Mambo, but it always nserts two nonexistent image files and {mosimage} tags. Any idea why?

I have downloaded JA Submit successfully and located the downloaded folder in the components directory within my Joomla folder.
I have logged on as the admin user and selected the menu option Installers>Components>Install new component>Choose file path
to select the file to install
I selected the file ja_submit.xml - When I select the button upload file and install I get the following error :

Invalid checksum for file " ja_submit Febru" : 43793 calculated, 0 expected
Upload component - Upload Failed

I am new to Joomla and don't know if I have selected the correct file to load the component.

Can someone please advise me what I am doing wrong ?

Thanks in advance

If the other editors work, but you still want to use Tmedit, try this:
Go to your template index.php and move the initEditor part above the tag.

Thanks, this worked.

I have the component doing everything I want it to EXCEPT - how do you get rid of the default: Submit Your News to JoomlArt.com.

My website isn't called JoomlArt.com and so i don't want it. Surely this should be in the component configuration somewhere?

Thanks

Andrew

The text for that can be found in the language file in the language manager option.

Now for my question ... what is with the image resizer option and the maximum widths and heights?

I have users whose images are being rejeted because they are bigger than the max sizes, but isn't that what the images resize option is for - to scale larger photos down?

I'm not sure most users have the technical know how to resize photos - they just expect to be able to upload their images.

Can someone tell me what is actually happening here?

Thanks

Andrew

I just loaded 2.1. I saw in the first post here that the section/categories was fixed. However my installatino and configuration show sections and categories that I dont even have set up. How can I remove these categories?

Hi
The only thing I am trying to do with this component is to get an email sent to an administrator when an author submits a new News Item, but it isn't working.

I think it is totally strange that Joomla, straight out of the box sends an email to an administrator when someone submits a web link, but not when someone submits news.

Thanks for any advice

I not sure this is JA Submit problem or joomla problem.

I use JA Submit submit the picture with name call 6.JPG (*.JPG with capital latter), the image won't show in content. after i check the image folder, the image already uploaded.

In configeration page i set the image type support (jpg, JPG, gif, GIF, png, PNG). if i didn't set the JPG it event can;t upload and will come out message said the file are not supported.
The Default WYSIWYG Editor i have tried "No WYSIWYG Editor", "TMEDIT" and "TinnyMCE WYSIWYG Editor"

I know if i change the ".JPG" to small latter the problem should solve, but can the image show without change the ".JPG"? because i use JA Submit open for public to post the latest news, they might dont know how to change the "JPG". do you guy have any solution on this?

Hi Everbody
I have installed JA_SUBMIT and using it,
It is very useful components for me and works very well
4 users of my site had been assigned as EDITOR and they can SUMBIT topics/items to my site WITHOUT ENTERING Admin Panel

What is my question is that;

How those publishers CAN DELETE (already submitted) Topics/Items without entering Admin Panel?

Any Idea?

Sincerelly

My joomla is working only within a network

And I think there must be a DELETE button in JA-SUBMIT assigned also ADMINISTRATOR without antering ADMIN PANEL..

Hi,

I installed and configured it. Now how do I use it on my site! Still when my registered users log into my site and try to submit a news article they get an error saying they don't have permission for this feature!

How do you set it up?

Thanks

As I was applying various hacks to JA Submit to get the security images to work and to hide the security images text when a registered user was making an entry,
I also added a hide rules for registered users if the rules option was selected in the back end.

So, I stripped the table code of the submit form and set it up with some css.
I've put the css straight into the Ja_submit.html.php file,
(better would be to dynamically load into your index.php head, but that would require other changes to the component).

Among the various hacks added are Michal Romaniszyns section/cat cat selector.
(as found in JoomlArt forum)

There are a few other mods applied, try it out,

There's still a few things which I would like to have implemented, as others have mentioned .

    * multi image upload
    * no image upload option back-end
    * image upload to users/section/cat dir
    * post to front page option back-end
    * form css load to header
    * form css edit back-end
    * various form css option back-end (pre installed to change styles)

requirements:
Joomla! 1.0.12 Stable [ Sunfire ] (may work on others?)
JoomlArt ja_submit v. 2.1
recomended, walter cedrics SecurityImages v. 4+

To use the linked file:

    * download, unzip,
    * connect to your server, components/com_ja_submit/
    * make backup copy of (ja_submit.php and ja_submit.html.php)
    * upload via ftp to your server, components/com_ja_submit/
    * new hacked downloaded files (ja_submit.php and ja_submit.html.php)
    * test all user situations, complete posts, and check again.

Note: to edit the look of your new form, you will have to edit the css properies in the file ja_submit.html.php

Why dont you package this up as a complete component and not just a hack. Its a gpl component so there is no problem as long as you maintain appropriate copyright statements and attributions

Hi,
I had thought of that, but
I am not trying to high-jack JaSubmit from JoomlArt,
I'm not sure that I could do much better than they have at servicing, maintaining the component.
I am also waiting to see if JoomlArt can find the time to upgrade JaSubmit,. I see they've been busy
with a bridge for phplist to Joomla.

I am looking at Joomla 1.5 to see what built in submit system there is.
And if needed/ warranted, I may develop a submit component for Joomla 1.5 .

I have presented the above HACK as a combination of hacks presented by other users at the JoomlArt forum.
I'm not a php coder, but a long time, cut, paste and see kinda guy.

I can barely beat my way out of a css mess.

???I have installed the Content Submission component into Joomla v 1.0.12, but I am having great difficulty in getting it to work. I cannot see it in the browser submission page.  What essential little step have I left out? ???

I have tried three times to install and operate the extension, each time with a new installation of Joomla, but it still doesn't do what it says it will do. Please help. ???

I am using Internet Explorer 7 and the test server on my machine is WAMP 1.07

21 March 2007 - It seems no-one can help, so the extension is being un-installed.
Pity, If I could have got it to work, it would have saved a lot of head scratching.

29 March 2007 - Found another way of doing what I want to do. I would still like to use JA Submit, any clues to solving my original problem anyone?

I was trying to download this component, but to "register" for the joomlart site i have to pay $40 or more.  Is this correct?  It's listed under the "free joomla extensions" category.  Am I missing something?
