I've just installed Google Maps on my site and every time I try to save the configuration after putting in the api key it tells me: Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /joomla/administrator/index2.php on this server.

I've tried using several versions and they are all saying the same thing. I'm not experiencing any other problems on the site or with the component. I've been adding other components and modules all day without any issues.

???

The problem is that the cause is unknown.  Uninstall/Reinstall of the component fixed the problem, but the problem came up again shortly after.  During this time we were also fooling around with the file permissions of administrator/components/*.* files and folders.  We were changing the permissions on these files to allow us to modify them from FTP.  In doing this, I believe causes the error of saving google maps configuration page

Solution:
1. Double-check that your administrator/components/google_maps/*.* files are set to Read/Write permissions (CHMOD 777)
2. Double-check that your components/google_maps/*.* files are set to Read/Write permissions (CHMOD 777)

After I changed the permissions back to 777 (Writable) on these files, I was then able to save the configuration page of Google Maps.

The issue lies with the security on the following file:

.../administrator/components/com_google/helpers/configuration.php

Allow writing on this file and it should work
